After visiting the Pokémon Centers in Japan, I fell in love with the Easter Pikachu and Eevee plush collections. The pastel colors with the characters immediately made me want to make something that reflected their charm. So I made a blanket!
I'll start by saying I am awful at most kinds of crocheting and knitting, but when I came across something called loop yarn, I learned I actually COULD make something! This craft is so simple and looks very fancy when it's done.
Materials Needed
Loop Yarn - I purchased the Loopity Loops brand that Jo Ann Fabric stores sell in the States. I wanted my husband and I to be able to use the blanket at the same time, so I ended up buying around 6 skeins for a large blanket.
Michael's craft stores also sells a different brand of loop yarn that has less yarn in each packaging so depending on what you want to make, you may need to visit the store again if you run out.
Scissors - You'll need to cut just a few loops when you're finished to tie the blanket off. I waited until the very end to do this.
Pins/Clips (Optional) - Since this was the first time I made a blanket and it needed to be big, I used clips to keep track of where I last tightened my loops.

Thanks to the power of Twitter, I came across this tutorial video from TL Yarn Crafts that easily explained how to make a blanket. I watched the video a few times during my lunch breaks at work before buying the yarn and doing it myself.
Time to Craft
As I have a bad habit of starting a craft and not actually finishing it, I set myself a goal to make this blanket during our vacation time around Christmas. My husband and I took a week off of work and we stayed home with two plans: Play Assassin's Creed Odyssey and make this blanket.
After four days and about 11 hours of finger knitting, my blanket was finished! Take a look at the photos below.
My cat, Sonic, majorly approves of this blanket. He's been snuggling into it so much that I made him a smaller one for his cat bed. The blanket does well in the washer and dryer under the delicate settings.
About the Pikachu and Eevee Easter Plush
The Pokémon Center stores in Japan release limited edition items throughout the year. In 2018 and 2019, I have come across Easter themed items featuring Pikachu and Eevee. The special plush have become my favorite items in the series so I have purchased both versions from 2018 and 2019 for my Pokémon collection at home.
Comparing the two Easter collections: The 2018 "Pikachu and Eevee's Easter" collection plush are in the first photo and the plush in the second photo are from the 2019 "Easter Garden Party" collection. The 2018 collection was more pastel in coloring with showing the characters to be more delicate. The 2019 collection brightened things up more and gave the characters a more playful side. I love them both!
